39th Street CID Works to Enhance Streetscape on Corridor: (2005)
Prior to making long-term decisions regarding district improvements, CID Board members wanted to first prioritize potential improvements, both by the visual impact and by cost. The Board would also like to ensure that, as improvements are made, the additions to the corridor complement each other. There are several possible enhancements that could be made to the district, including such options as the addition of planters, litter receptacles, and decorative banners. Improved pedestrian lighting may be an option as well. The Board will work with BCA, representatives from the City of Kansas City, Missouri, stakeholders in the district, and others, to develop a plan that produces an improved experience for visitors to the district. The long-term goal is to create an "atmosphere" for the 39th Street Corridor and create a more pedestrian friendly environment. When the 39th Street CID was established, a priority was placed on the improvement of the corridor streetscape. The planning work done by Brian Clark and Associates will allow for an "improvement package" that enhances the image and appearance of the entire district. |
